THINK DIVING

It's time to get out your dive gear! Have it serviced if needed and get ready for a great diving season! Think gentle breezes, warm clear water, lots of fish and great diving adventures. It's all here waiting for you!

Water temperatures on our reefs in Abaco are in the high 70's to 80 degrees during May, low 80's during June, and mid to high 80's during July and August! Air temperatures are in the low 80's during May, mid 80's during June, and high 80's to low 90's during July and August with a great ocean breeze! Perfect diving conditions are right around the corner!

GROUPER ANTICS

Come meet our groupers! They will change the way you think of fish! Many of our dive sites are home to beautiful Nassau Groupers, Black Groupers, and Tiger Groupers. These amazing animals love to greet and swim with our divers.

One Nassau Grouper, George, swims up like a puppy dog waving his pectoral fins with excitement. Is he looking for a handout? Well, perhaps that's part of it. However, even when no handouts are to be found, he's there to greet our divers and usually follows the group for the entire dive.

An encounter with him can alter your eating habits. He can make you forget those Grouper Fingers for lunch. George will come nose to nose with you and look into your mask. He loves attention and loves to be stroked. If ignored, he rubs up against you or bumps into the back of your legs. And, he's quite photogenic and likes to get right up in front the lens when you're taking pictures.

Consequently, many photos of divers have a large Nassau Grouper in the foreground. Occasionally, he is attracted to one member of the group and will stay with that diver for the entire dive.

Do Groupers have feelings? Are they conscious? If you meet George you will say, "There's absolutely no doubt about it!"

FEATURED DIVE SITE - SHARK LEDGE

Shark ledge is one of our most delightful dive sites. It is located in the Fowl Cay Preserve between Man-O-War and Scotland Cay. The top of the ledge comes to within 10 feet of the surface and is covered with a magnificent garden of yellow, blue, purple, and pink sea fans. The ledge itself has interesting crevasses and overhangs leading down to the ocean side of the reef where it bottoms out at depths of 60 to 70 ft.

The deeper water is home to our "Pet Groupers," Caribbean Reef Sharks, Spotted Eagle Rays, Green Morays, and Southern Stingrays.

In this protected water where fishing and spearing are not acceptable, the animals are docile and sometimes swim right alongside of the divers. They seem to be as curious as the divers.

The entire side of Shark Ledge, from top to bottom, is covered with Hard and Soft Corals and Schools of Colorful Tropical Fish. The more elusive sea life such as Spiny Lobsters, Octopi, and the little creatures like Arrow Crabs, Anemone Shrimp, and Banded Coral Shrimp hide under rocks and in holes.

Divers who have logged 4 to 4000 dives love this dive. It's one of our favorites!

DIVING FOR THE FUN OF IT

Our dive trips are custom designed to meet your needs. We take a maximum of 8 SCUBA Divers on our 31 ft. Hydrocat Dive Boat. The Catamaran design and power insure a fast smooth ride to dive sites and great stability during surface intervals.

And, we use the standard 80 cu. ft. aluminum tanks on our boat. It's not unusual for our dives to last an hour or longer depending on your air consumption and no decompression limits. Our profiles usually begin and end in about 20 ft. of water with maximum depths of 60 to 70 feet.

After a guided tour of the most exceptional parts of the reef you and your buddy are welcome to continue to explore the reef near the boat until you are down to 500 psi of air in your tank.

Between dives we serve some delicious snacks such as Cheese, Go Ahead Crackers, and Fruit. We also have bottled water in our large thermos. Your surface interval is the perfect time to relax, share stories with other divers, and rest up for the next great dive.

We want your diving experience to be the best! Our goal is to take the work out of diving so you can enjoy the fun part. We load your gear on the boat, assemble it, and put your gear on a fresh tank during surface intervals. We also wash it, dry it, and store it for you. After we get back to our dock at the shop, all you have to do is get off the boat and have a wonderful, relaxing afternoon. On your next diving day you will find your gear on the boat, assembled on a tank, and ready for you to go diving again.

TRY IT! YOU MIGHT LOVE IT!
